“The Lord has blessed us with amazing members and friends. God has been faithful in speaking to the hearts of people sowing and connecting into the vision that He placed in my spirit. I would also consider myself to be a visionary leader. I will continue to trust God as He reveals more of Himself and His will unto me. We will continue to allow the Lord to build His Ministry though us to advance the kingdom of God! God gets all the glory!!!”

History of Mt Moriah Church

Located in Magee, MS, Mt Moriah MB Church was founded over 100 years ago but never incorporated. In 2005, Columbus & Barbara O’Banner were elected as the new pastors. Under their leadership, the church was incorporated in 2007 and renamed, Mt. Moriah Church.

The O’Banners also changed the focus of the church to a non-denominational, full gospel ministry. As a result, the church has become a growing healthy group of believers. The church is now debt free and has acquired various ministry tools to enhance growth and development. In 2012, the church acquired 18.93 acres of land adjoining its existing 4 acres. This land acquisition has made it possible to plan a ministry campus consisting of multiple buildings in the future starting with a new worship center.

Our Beliefs

We believe that every service provides an opportunity to reach people who are far from God. It’s important to start by explaining what we believe because it is the foundation of everything we do.

The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

Trinity
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one God in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

The Father
God is great: He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

The Son
Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.

The Holy Spirit: Being Filled
The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit by simply asking.

Eternity: Somewhere Forever
Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

Diving Healing: God’s Plan For Your Body
Healing is a privilege for every believer. God wants each of us to live healthy and whole lives so that we can live for Him and help others more effectively.

Man
Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Salvation: God’s Only Way
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

The Church: God’s Design For Community
The Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

Baptism: God Empowers Us
Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one’s salvation. God commands it, but our salvation does not rely upon it. We practice full-immersion baptism, symbolizing the process of death and resurrection that Jesus went through for us.

Prayer
Prayer is our ability to communicate with God. Through Jesus’ salvation, we no longer need an intercessor to go between God and us, we can address Him directly.
